Fay Retta Townsend (Slusher) was born on June 8, 1946 in Denison, Texas and passed away at age 78 on November 28, 2024 in Fort Worth, Texas.
She moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1960, where she received technical training at St. Mary’s Hospital to pursue a career in x-ray technology. In 2002, at the age of 56, she obtained an Associate of Science in Medical Coding. She retired as a CT Tech from the Kansas University Cancer Center in 2014, after a 35-year career in the industry.
She is survived by: daughters, Karen M. Raglin, Tonya R. Britton, and Chedel L. Townsend; grandchildren, Dara Smith (Carter), Kala Raglin, Michael Heggie Jr, Walter Britton, Devin Crook, and Jayden Crook; eight great-grandchildren; sibling, Donald Slusher; several nieces and nephews; and close companion, Larry Brown.
She was preceded in death by: grandparents, Josh and Sadie Lydia; brother, Robert Slusher, Jr.; father, Robert Slusher, Sr; mother, Mildred Slusher; husband, Delbert Townsend; and granddaughter, Laurel Britton.
FayRetta, as known by back-home family and friends, was an avid golfer and traveler. She enjoyed family gatherings with all of her grand and great-grandchildren.
