Edward Clarence Sacher

  Dr. Edward C. Sacher of Arlington, TX, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2026. He will always be remembered as the family storyteller, sharing tales about all of his fun and exciting adventures. He was born in Dallas, TX on April 30,1928. Ed graduated from Texas A & M University in 1949. He earned his medical doctorate and completed advanced training in urological surgery from the University of Texas, Galveston in 1950. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1954 where he served for 20 years. During his time in service, he was stationed at Naval Hospital San Diego, CA and Naval Hospital Portsmouth VA. Ed retired from service with the rank of Captain.

Upon his return to Texas in 1975, Ed opened his private practice in Denton, TX. specializing in Urology, where he cared for his patients for over 25 yrs. “Dr. Sacher”, as he was known by many, was deeply respected for his skill as a physician and remembered just as strongly for his kindness, thoroughness, and compassion. He genuinely cared for his patients and treated each person with dignity, patience, and warmth. Ed was also known for his quiet and endless generosity, freely offering his time, guidance, and resources to those in need. His commitment to service defined both his professional life and the way he showed up for others. Upon retiring from private practice Ed took up a love for painting and so enjoyed traveling the world.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Krisha Scharnweber and is survived by his stepdaughter Margaret Moreno from San Diego, CA., grandchildren Grady (Ole) Barfoot from Denver, CO., Ryan (Margaret) Barfoot from Normal, IL. and Jennie Scharnweber from Fort Worth, TX., a step-granddaughter Ava Moreno form San Diego CA., two great grandson’s Edward and Arthur Barfoot from Normal IL, a niece Melinda McChesney from Denton, TX. And two grandnieces Erin (Michael) Moore, from Bee Cave, TX. and Lori McChesney from Ft. Worth, TX.

A funeral service will be held at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. The family will not be holding a reception. Flowers for the family may be sent to Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053.
