It was one minute before three PM Tuesday, March 10,2026 when Edith Genevieve Walters Rogers, peacefully passed away with her son Doug, his wife Sharron and daughter Ledaine at her bedside.
Genevieve was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 15,1927, to Edith Belle Clark and John Abeyta Walters. She grew up in Bent, New Mexico and graduated from Tularosa High School in 1946. She was hired as a clerk at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico but after a short time she returned home to help her father in the small grocery store where the Bent, New Mexico post office was located and he was the Postmaster. This is where she met her husband to be, Alfred “Sonny” Howell Rogers, Jr. A brief courtship followed and Genevieve and Sonny were married (eloped) in Carlsbad, New Mexico and they relocated to Fort Worth, Texas in 1947.
The young couple bought a house in the Riverside area of Fort Worth where all four of their children went to school and graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High School. In 1971 they bought some land in Springtown, Texas, where they built their dream house in 1974 and lived happily until Sonny passed away August 10, 1994.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Howell Rogers, Jr; brother, John Freddy Walters Clark; aunts, Margaret Walters Saenz and Emoline Walters Sisemore; niece, Cathi Walters Clark Matthews and nephew, Abel Frederick Clark.
She is survived by her Children, Calvin Douglas “Doug” Rogers (Sharron) of Grapevine, Texas; Ledaine Rogers Parr of North Richland Hills, Texas; Nancy Rogers Dixon and Charlotte Rogers Moore (Jimmy) of Springtown, Texas and niece, Elma Walters Clark of Tucson, Arizona; Granddaughters, Rashel Rogers Hamilton (Arthur); Becki Parr Carson (Chris); Gina Moore Fincher (Jack); Angela Rogers Kemp (Jack); Cheri Dixon Carlisle (Aaron) and Cara Dixon Johnson (Curtis); Great-grandchildren, Cassidy Fincher Chenault (Clayton), Madeline Hamilton, Caroline Hamilton, Abigail Kemp, Katlyn Kemp White, Shyann Dixon-Johnson, Cydnie Fincher, Colton Dixon and Corben Fincher; Great-great-grandchildren, Everett, Bryson and Rynnlie Chenault. Genevieve was “Nana” to them all.
Her final years were challenging but her heart remained strong. She was the best mother anyone could hope to have. We love you Momma, Genevieve, Edith, Nana. Rest in peace.
