Dorothy was born in Sonora, Kentucky, to Ivy and Mary Frances Manion Miller. She dedicated many years as a civilian employee supporting U.S. military bases, including Fort Knox (KY), Fort McPherson (GA), Naval Air Station Dallas, and Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth (TX).
She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known to many of the children as “Gram” and “Dor Dor.” Dorothy was an active member of Cross City Baptist Church (formerly First Euless Baptist Church of Euless). She had fierce faith in our Lord and Savior, trusting Him deeply, and she loved her family with her whole heart. She leaves a legacy of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and deep love a life lived in service to God and devotion to family.
Survivors
She is survived by her son Mike Miller (Karen), daughter Susan Wakefield (Brian), stepdaughter Carrie Skruggs (James), and stepson Steve Castro; grandchildren Tyler Wakefield, Reed Miller, Ivy Miller, Tannah Overall (Jonathan), Jenah Vogel (Paul), and Alyssa Skruggs; great-granddaughter Shea Vogel; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Preceded in Death By
Her parents; husband Tomas (Tom) Castro; two brothers, Bernard and Jimmie Miller; and two sisters, Evelyn Cruse and Virginia Ramsey.
Visitation and Funeral
Visitation will be held at Manakee Funeral Home, Sonora, KY, on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., followed directly by the funeral service.
