Donna Ruth Humphries, a beloved member of the Burleson, Texas community and a cherished resident of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 3, 1947, at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, Texas, Donna spent her formative years in East Dallas before moving to Richardson in the mid-1950s. She completed her education at Richardson High School, where her bright spirit began to shine, just as it would throughout her life.
In a profound testament to her enduring love, Donna and her husband, Michael Humphries, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year, a milestone that reflected their deep commitment and unwavering support for one another. Throughout her life, Donna became a certified nursing aid, dedicating herself to caring for others in healthcare and home healthcare settings. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her professional life, as she opened her heart and home to others as a foster care mom.
Donna's love for family and children was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy in worshiping Jesus, expressing her faith through dance, and creating beautiful flags and banners for praise. Her passion for ministry led her to teach a class on banners to a women's group at the International Church in Istanbul, Turkey, enriching the lives of those she encountered. An avid traveler, she and Michael enjoyed exploring the beauty of the UK, celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary with a memorable trip to Scotland and Ireland.
Donna was an active member of Open Door Church in Burleson, where she engaged with her community through her love of home decorating, gardening, dancing, and crafting Christian banners. Her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her cherished husband, Michael Humphries; her children, Cary Michael Humphries and his wife Ronda, Catherine Michelle Hobson, and her husband Kevin; as well as her beloved grandchildren-Allison Puckett, Ryan Humphries, Jane Hobson, Sha Hepstall, Skylar Wilson-and great-grandchildren Camden, Trevor, Bryson, Emmett, Julia, Keegan, Hayden, and Landon. She is preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Odom, and her mother, Julia Ebey Odom Murphy
