Donna Marie Chapman
Enjoyed 81 years of life until her passing at home with her family in Bedford, Texas, in the early hours of August 1st, 2026.
Donna was born in Louisville Kentucky on Mother’s Day in 1945 to her parents Bud (Philip) and Anna Barber. The second eldest of six.
As a young lady she attended Sacred Heart Academy and then went on to graduate from the university of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.
Donna married Steven in December of 1975 and moved to Texas where they started their wonderful family.
She had a fruitful teaching career spanning over 50 years with 30 of those years teaching at St. John The Apostle Catholic school. Where her son and daughter attended.
During her time at SJS she helped shape and inspire many minds and even had the honor of receiving the Outstanding Service Award in 2004. Patient, dedicated, gentle, and kind, Donna exhibited all the qualities that anyone would want in a catholic school teacher. She always displayed a positive attitude and never complained or said an unkind word.
In her free time she enjoyed reading mystery novels, cooking and spending time with family.
She loved returning to Kentucky to visit friends and family and traveling to see her grandchildren.
She also cherished her Irish heritage and was able to visit Ireland with her husband.
Her heart was dedicated to serving others and she would show it as den leader for her son, Christian’s scout troop, and as an example to her daughter of the important qualities of motherhood. As well as serving as a Eucharistic minister at St. Michaels Church for several years.
She had a great sense of humor paired with a lovely smile and a laugh that was heartwarming.
Donna is survived by her loving husband Steven, son Christian, daughter Anna, son-in-law Steve and two granddaughters Lilyanna and Stella, who she absolutely adored. Sisters, Carol and husband Charles (IN), Mary Lynn and her wife Rachel (OH), and brothers Robert and Richard (KY). She is Proceeded in death by her parents and her brother Chib.
“Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.”
