Donna Louise Analovitch, a fierce community advocate and guardian of a legendary American legacy, passed away on April 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in New York City to Dominick Richard Pirone and Dorothy Ruth Pirone, Donna’s life was defined by her tireless commitment to the safety and well-being of others.
In the early 1980s, then known as Donna Troccoli, she rose to prominence as a leader of the "Dump the Dump" movement in Hauppauge, New York. Driven by the discovery of carcinogens at the Blydenburgh Road Landfill, she helped organize a massive boycott of Whippoorwill Elementary School, where nearly 750 students were kept home to demand protection from toxic exposure. Her bravery helped usher in stricter environmental oversight for Long Island. Her advocacy continued later in life when she successfully headed a committee to widen a perilous stretch of Highway 83 near Ponderosa High School, a project that effectively saved lives after years of tragic accidents.
Beyond her local activism, Donna was a central figure in American sports history. As the granddaughter of the legendary Babe Ruth, she served as a dedicated steward of "The Bambino’s" legacy. She traveled extensively for the Babe Ruth Baseball League, inspiring children to find passion in the game. Her role as a family representative took her to major MLB events and notably to the White House in 2018, where she accepted her grandfather’s posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom.
A devoted mother of a blended family of six, Donna was the heart of her home. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jay L. Analovitch, her six children, and nine grandchildren.
A private service to celebrate her remarkable life will be held in Southlake, Texas, on April 24, 2026. Donna leaves behind a legacy of safety, health, and a timeless love for the game.
