In Loving Memory of Don Martin

Euless, Texas 1938 – 2025

Don Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and community volunteer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Edwin R. Martin and Muriel Gibson, Don lived a life marked by dedication, generosity, and unwavering service. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 4, 1956, proudly serving his country with honor and integrity.

Don married the love of his life, Linda Lipp, February 16, 1986, and together they began a new chapter in Euless, Texas. He retired from American Airlines after a distinguished career as a Crew Tracker. Rather than slowing down, Don poured his energy into serving the community he loved.

Don’s impact on Euless was immeasurable. He was a tireless advocate for civic engagement, volunteering over 10,000 hours across numerous organizations. His leadership and passion were evident in his roles as President and founding member of the Euless Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association; President and founding member of the Texas Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association; Member of the Euless Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association; Instructor and Member of Citizens on Patrol; Member of the Fire Department Rehab Team; Member of the Euless Crime Control and Prevention District Board; Member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT); and an Ambassador at DFW Airport.

Don’s devotion to public service was matched only by his zest for life. He and Linda shared a love for cruising, sailing on over 40 cruises together, and he was always on the lookout for the next great voyage. Together, they embarked on numerous adventures at sea, and when not cruising, Don found joy in the spirit and traditions of Hawaii. Locally, he could often be found volunteering or enjoying a lively performance by Elvis impersonator Carlton Hurdle at the Burger Box.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother, (Douglas VanBuskirk), and his maternal grandmother, and is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Linda; his sons Kenny Martin (June) of Torrance, California and Scott Martin of Fredrikstad, Norway; his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of close friends he considered family.

His family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Texas Health Harris Methodist HEB, DaVita Mid Cities Dialysis in Hurst, and the many friends and loved ones who supported Don throughout his health journey.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Texas Star Conference Centre, 1400 Texas Star Parkway, Euless, Texas. In celebration of Don’s vibrant spirit and love for Hawaii, guests are encouraged to wear Hawaiian attire or bright colors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to:
