Dominicus James Young, a resident of Bedford, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He will be forever remembered as a kind, loving, and high-spirited soul whose wit and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Born on August 8, 2008, in Las Colinas, Texas, to Damein Young and Mar'nene Butler. Dominicus was a young man of immense talent and ambition. He possessed a brilliant mind for how things worked and held a firm goal of studying Mechatronics Engineering at Texas A&M University.
His discipline extended far beyond the classroom. Dominicus was an accomplished Kung Fu martial artist and a dedicated boxer; his coaches recently noted that he had "turned a corner" in his advanced classes, showing the true heart of a competitor. Whether he was on the soccer field, the basketball court, or working out after school, Dominicus moved through the world with energy and purpose.
He is survived by his devoted father, Damein Young, and his "Bonus Mom," Diana Young; his siblings, DeAndra Davis, Jasmine Davis, and Daxton Young; and his faithful dog, Rocky. He also leaves behind a loving circle of family, including his uncle's Michael Dickey, Rico Richardson, David J. Washington Jr., John Brandt, and Joshua Cantu, his aunt, Queen Cantu, and the pillars of his family, his grandparents Al and Donna Dickey.
Dominicus is survived by: The Butler Household: His Mother: Mar'nene, His Stepfather: David, His Step- Siblings: Kayla and Shemar. His Grandfather: James Johnson, His Grandmother: Bessie Spriggins, In Heaven: Reunited with his beloved grandmother Marilyn Johnson, The Extended Family, Aunts and Uncles: Takila and Marcus Chaney, Amber Spriggins, Cousins: Melody and Trenton Chaney (also lifelong friend) and our puppy dog Capri.
Dominicus is also survived by his second family at school: the dedicated staff of Harmony Science Academy of Euless and the Harmony Senior Class of 2026, who share in the loss of a bright, talented classmate and friend.
