Derrick Dwayne Parson
February 23, 1967 – September 17, 2026
All too soon, Derrick Dwayne Parson went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2026. He leaves behind an immeasurable absence and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in Galveston, Texas, Derrick lived a life defined by selflessness, integrity, compassion for others, and an unwavering devotion to his family. For nearly four decades, he worked as a skilled mechanic at American Airlines; Where his knowledge, reliability, and strong work ethic earned the respect of those around him. Over the years, many of his coworkers became lifelong friends, a reflection of the kind of person Derrick was both on and off the job.
Beyond the workplace, Derrick had a lifelong love of baseball and a natural fascination with how things worked. His mechanical skill was more than a career; it was part of who he was. He also enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and making memories along the way, always valuing both the journey and the people who shared it with him.
Above all else, Derrick’s heart belonged to his family. He was an extraordinary father to his three children and a deeply devoted grandfather to his two cherished granddaughters. His family could always count on him for guidance, support, a helping hand, or simply the comfort of knowing he was there.
Derrick’s legacy is one of boundless generosity, quiet strength, and steadfast loyalty. Whether offering wise counsel, fixing something that needed fixing, lending a helping hand without hesitation, or simply being a steady and caring presence, Derrick gave so much of himself to those around him. He was an incredible father, grandfather, brother, and a true friend to all who knew him.
Derrick is survived by his children, Derrianna Parson, Graison Parson, and Kirryn Parson; his beloved granddaughters, Oaklynn Dunavant and Arden Dunavant. His Siblings, George (Rochelle) Parson, Gwendolyn Parson, Chandra (Robert) Allen. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, colleagues, and dear friends who will carry his memory with them always.
Though his journey ended far sooner than anyone was ready for, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will remain forever.
“After a lifetime spent helping others take flight, Derrick has made his final landing home.”
