Deenie Lynn Duncan, resident of Burleson, Texas, formerly of Hot Springs/Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Passed away on February 1, 2025 at home at the age of 79 years.

 Deenie was born on October 13, 1945 in San Antonio, TX to her parents: Bernard Neal “Papa” Chancellor & Uwna Mahdeen “Deenie” Pate Chancellor, after the war they moved back home to Truth or Consequences, NM. Growing up she helped her parents run the local movie theater the Rio Grande and they lived directly above it. She was able to visit her Granddaddy & Mimi Pate on a regular basis.

Deenie always tried to do her very best in school and outside of school she became a Worthy Advisor “WA” in the Rainbow Girls and she was often chosen as one of the city’s Fiesta Parade Pageant Queen. With the extreme pride of her Mimi Pate always told her, “To go to college and make something of herself.” In 1963, she moved out of state to attend McMurry College in Abilene, TX.

In 1967, she graduated with her degree in English; she married Jerry Duncan & had a 5-month-old daughter Michelle. In 1967, they moved El Paso, TX, where Jerry got a job with PX/BX. In 1969, they moved to Puerto Rico while teaching her daughter Spanish. In 1971, the little family moved to the Orlando, FL, expanded the family to four with a son Chad in 1972. In 1973, the family moved to Bridgeville, PA; where she learned where to drive her Yellow Sunroof VW Bug in the snow as a housewife.

In 1976, they moved across the ocean to Ubach over Worms, Holland was where the family got to travel seeing a thousand churches, 10 world class art museums, saw where history actual happened in Europe – she fell in love with all the art museums & paintings.

In 1979, the family then got the call to move to Garden Grove, CA, raising their children through high school, learning how to set up a pop-up camper to driving a 34-foot RV then to sailing a Catamaran in the Pacific Ocean.

In 1990, the call to Texas was strong, moving to North Texas and eventually settled in Burleson, Texas where Jerry and Deenie built their home from ground up...wallpaper, tile and all.

During these years Deenie taught school for 29 yrs. loving English & Drama. She was a friend and mom to many.

Survivors include Spouse, Jerry Duncan for 59 yrs; Daughter, Michelle Levick; Son, Chad Duncan; Son in Love, Michael Levick; almost daughter, Sorojinii; Great Granddaughter, Emmie Koch; including extended family.

Funeral Services are scheduled for February 15, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home located at 518 S.W. Johnson Ave, Burleson TX 76028 with viewing/visitation two hours prior from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Burleson Senior Activity Center located at 216 S.W. Johnson Ave, Burleson, TX 76028.
