Debra “Debbie” Ann (Ellison) Edwards, 58, of Justin, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 14, 1968, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Debbie was the beloved daughter of Harold and Jerry Ellison. Raised in Garland, Texas, she attended North Garland High School, where her big heart and bright spirit were evident to all who knew her. She went on to attend Texas Tech University, where she was an active member of the High Riders and spent every season passionately cheering on her Red Raiders.
Guided by a lifelong passion for serving others, Debbie began her career in social work. Her deep commitment to nurturing young lives later inspired her to earn a degree in Education. As a dedicated teacher at Justin Elementary, she was cherished for her endless patience, her profound love for her students, and her natural gift for inspiring young minds.
Above all, Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She brought warmth, kindness, and light into every room she entered. Whether she was crafting, decorating her home, or hosting lively gatherings, Debbie poured her heart into making every moment special. Her greatest joy was simply spending time with the family and friends she adored.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Ernie Edwards, of Justin, TX; her mother, Jerry Ellison, also of Justin; and her three loving daughters and their husbands: Megan and Ryan Hisaw of Midland, TX, Haleigh and Andrew Carr of Justin, TX, and Aryn and Clayton Meyers of Wichita Falls, TX. Her memory lives on through her five cherished grandchildren—Zoey Edwards, Franklin and Effie Carr, Katie Hisaw, and Beckett Meyers. She is further survived by her siblings, Kevin Ellison, Terry Ellison, and Rhonda Brown, alongside a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved father, Harold Ellison.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on September 12th at 2pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas. To honor her bright personality and explicit final wish, her family requests that attendees wear their brightest, most joyful colors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Debbie’s honor. (Charity coming soon)
