In Loving Memory of David Sandel

David Sandel went home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather who deeply loved his family.

David and his loving wife, Susan, were hometown sweethearts whose story began when they were teenagers in Amarillo. From those early years together through building a family and a lifetime of memories, Susan remained by David’s side and was an enduring part of the life they shared.

David leaves behind his loving wife, Susan; his son, Sean, and daughter-in-law, Angelica Sandel; his daughter, Sara, and son-in-law, Derek Horton; his grandchildren, Russell, Kendall, Romeo, and Alexis; his sister, Jana, and her husband, Tre; and his brother, Scott.

David enjoyed the simple things in life—a good book, a great movie, meaningful conversations with friends and family, and, of course, a nice steak dinner. He loved sharing stories about growing up in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle, giving those around him a glimpse into the experiences and memories that shaped his life. David had a GREAT dry sense of humor that often found its way into those stories, usually delivered in his own understated way and leaving those around him smiling or laughing.

Some of David’s greatest joys came from supporting his family in the things they loved. When Sean and Sara were growing up, he loved coaching and watching their so and volleyball games and being there to cheer them on. As a grandfather, that same love carried on to the next generation. He treasured watching Russell and Romeo play baseball and soccer and took great pride in being there for their games.

David will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His stories, his humor, his love for his family, and the memories made with those closest to him will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

We will all miss “Pops.”
