David William Meyer

David William Meyer (49) passed away at his home in Burleson, Texas on Saturday, July 4, 2026 following a long illness. His friends and family were at his bedside. David was born in Chesterfield, Missouri on September 19, 1976 to Martha Kay Walker and spent most of his childhood growing up in Columbia, Missouri. He also lived in Lamesa, Texas and came to the Fort Worth, Texas area as a teenager which he made his home from then on.

David began working at Furr’s cafeteria and later Eckard’s drug store while in high school and was promoted to assistant store manager immediately upon graduation from Richland High School in 1995. He later worked at Radio Shack corporate headquarters for a number of years where he was responsible for managing relationships with individual store owners in various territories. He worked for Deluxe corporation, previously First American Payment Systems, for the final 17 years of his career as a loss prevention coordinator.

David is survived by his sons, Cameron Meyer of Dallas, Texas and Brennen Meyer of Fort Worth, Texas as well as his granddaughter, Selena Meyer and his grandson, Dean Meyer of Fort Worth. He is also survived by his brother, James (Jim) Meyer of Columbia, Missouri and his partner and caregiver, Kristy Jones of Joshua, Texas.

David’s Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, July 18th at 3:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053.

The family suggests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to Saxe Forte Animal Adoption Center, 1840 E Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76103.
