1939 – 2025

David Alan Garrett, 86, of Haltom City, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Tennessee and made Haltom City his home since 1974.

David proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and later dedicated himself to serving others as a Memphis Police Officer. A man of strong faith and generous spirit, David was a devoted member of his local church and the Knights of Columbus, where he gave countless hours helping with the food bank and lending a hand wherever it was needed.

David and his beloved wife of 51 years, Judi Garrett, shared a lifelong commitment to each other that has been a shining example of faith, love, and devotion. Together, they built a family and a life grounded in compassion and steadfast dedication—an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know them.

Beyond his service and faith, David was an avid fisherman who loved every moment he could spend on the water. Those who knew him best will remember his patience, his quiet strength, and his ability to find peace and joy in the simple things in life.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and leader whose strength, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judi Garrett; 7 children, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter who have all brought him endless joy.

A visitation will be held Sunday, November 2nd, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow on Monday, November 3rd at St John the Apostle at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations of nonperishable food items be made to your local food bank in David’s honor—a reflection of his lifelong commitment to serving others.
