Darlene Elizabeth Oglesbee

July 7, 1946 — March 27, 2026

Darlene Elizabeth Oglesbee, 79, of Keller Texas, passed away on March 27, 2026,following a brief illness. Darlene was surrounded by family as she passed peacefully.  Darlene was formally a long-time resident of Palatka Florida where family and friends still reside. Darlene is a member of the Francis Baptist Church in Palatka.

Darlene was born on July 7, 1946, to David and Marie Clarke in Great Bend Kansas.  She was a graduate of Ellinwood High School and went on to study at Butler County Junior College in El Dorado Kansas.

Darlene spent her early years growing up in western Kansas, but she spent the bulk of her life enjoying the Florida sunshine. She wasn’t crazy about hurricane season though. She was famous for taking the good with the bad.

Darlene was married to Bruce Oglesbee in 1962 in Raymond Kansas and went on to raise two sons, David and Mike. Being a mother and grandmother were her greatest joy.

Darlene was a Cub Scout leader for her sons and was always at one ball field or another supporting their athletic efforts as they grew up. If anyone was in the stands cheering at every game, it was Darlene. That devotion and love of the games continued with her grandchildren. She spent many a weekend at a campsite with her husband and children although no one would ever mistake that her enjoyment came from the camping or fishing. She was there to support those who did enjoy being outdoors and to watch the smiles on their faces.

Darlene was predeceased by her parents, David and Marie Clarke. Her brother, Jerry Clarke. Her husband, Bruce Oglesbee. Her son, Michael Oglesbee. Her granddaughter Bethany Merrill.

She is survived by her sister Marilyn Sherman. Her son, David Oglesbee and his wife Patricia. Her grandson Lance Oglesbee. Her grandson Tanner Oglesbee. She had numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held in Raymond Kansas on a date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation so that one day we may find a cure.
