With music in her step and a story always at the ready, Darlene Frances Brennand, 80, passed away on October 19, 2025. A kind, caring, loving, and free‑spirited soul, Darlene moved through life with open arms and a contagious zest for adventure.
Born on December 22, 1944 in Massillon, Ohio. Darlene believed every day deserved a soundtrack. She loved music of all kinds, never turned down a concert, and could find a dance floor anywhere. She stitched love into quilts and clothes, traveled the world whenever she could, and delighted in meeting people—neighbors and the occasional famous face alike—collecting the stories that became family lore. She loved to cheer for the Dallas Cowboys and The Ohio State University, and she cherished every minute spent with her family.
Rooted in faith, Darlene found deep joy in the Catholic Church and a spiritual home at St. Michael’s. She sang in the church choir with the same warmth and spirit she brought to every part of her life—lifting her voice in harmony, building friendships in the pews, and finding quiet strength in prayer.
Darlene is survived by her husband, James Brennand; sons David (Ladonna) Klett and Dean (Sandi Phillips) Klett; daughters’ Darrylene (Denis) Koesters; Pamela Condra and Beverly Wilson. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Anne ‘Sammy’ Williams; sister‑in‑law, Jean Sexton; parents‑in‑law, Jim and Pauline Brennand and of course, her beloved pup - Carly.
Her grandchildren—her pride and joy—include: Courtney Brite and husband Nathan; Amanda Fung; Sarah Abdelhadi and husband Rasem Bali; Brooke Mahaffey and husband Cameron; Madison Klett; David “Bubba” Klett and fiancée Caitlyn Scott; Zachary Abdelhadi and wife Cathryn; Brittany Scavetta and husband Joey; Grace Bucy; and Valory Bucy. Her great‑grandchildren are Jack Richmond, Lily Estrada, Koi Fung, Lily Brite, Amiyah Jones, Emilia Mahaffey, Wyatt Fung, John David “JD” Klett, Ford Mahaffey, Alexia Klett, and Isabella Scavetta. She also leaves behind four beloved nieces, Heather, Bianca, Alicia & Autumn and eight great‑nieces and great‑nephews, and beloved cousins’ Dolores (Gary) Ullom, Karen Rankin and many more friends and family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Parker; father Willima Sexton; brother, William “Billy” Sexton; and her son, Hunter Wilson Jr.
Those who knew Darlene will remember the music she loved, the quilts she made, the miles she traveled, and the way she made everyone feel like family. In her honor, turn up a favorite song, cheer for the Cowboys or the Buckeyes, share a good story, and dance—just a little—for Darlene.
