Cynthia Jean Sheffield
11/11/1961-12/27/2025
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14 (1-4)
On December 27, 2025, Cynthia “Cindy” Sheffield, 64, passed away in Grapevine, Texas, surrounded by her family. She lived a life filled with love, devotion, generosity, and faith. Her unwavering faith is the reason that we know that she left this Earth to rest eternally in a place that was prepared for her by the Lord.
Cindy was born on November 11, 1961, in Killeen, Texas to Billy and Bobbie Tickle to what she described as, “the world’s best parents.” If you needed to find the Tickle Family, you simply needed to look no further than Faith Temple Church. It was within the confines of those walls that Cindy made lifelong friends and where she also gained insight into scripture that led her to live as Christ did. Cindy took that to heart and radiated love with all 5 feet of her tiny frame for the entirety of her life. She cared deeply for children, animals, marginalized people, and the elderly. She was also a woman of the 80’s that loved Lionel Richie, Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara, Coca-Cola, and Peanut M&M’s.
Cindy was a proud graduate of Ellison High School, Class of 1979. She later went on to work as a Banker, Mortgage Underwriter, Supervisor at a Law Office, and an Environmental Services Supervisor. She had two children, Amber Gelino and Thomas Sheffield, and she was always very quick to tell anyone that would listen about how much she loved them and how proud she was of them. Her children would describe her as “the world’s best mom” and they have made a vow to talk to anyone that will listen, stories about their mom. They will keep the memory of her love for her children and family alive with stories about her endless amounts of cookies that she made at Christmas, her beautiful brown eyes, a laugh that would melt your heart, an ear that would never tire from listening, and a presence that made you feel as though you were the most important thing in her world, always (because you were). Her warmth was so deep and lasting that even in death, it will be felt for many generations to come.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie and Billie Tickle, and her sisters, Sherrie Kohler and Billie Jean Tickle. She is survived in death by her children, Amber Gelino and partner, Laura Swartzendruber of Euless, Texas and Chase Sheffield and wife, Emily Sheffield of Honolulu, Hawaii. Her niece, Jennifer Reaves and husband, Josh Williams of Waco, Texas, nephew, Cory Reaves and wife Alexis Reaves of Conroe, Texas, and nephew, Ian Kohler of Waco, Texas. Her grandchildren and great nieces and great nephews that she loved like grandchildren: Aiden, Blair, Cannon, Carson, Charley, Cooper, Gabriella, Jackson, Lucas, Penny, and Peyton.
Cindy did not want a funeral or memorial service but instead she wanted people to think of her “and be happy.” So, we shall try hard to honor her wishes and smile often but greater than that, we will vow to live as she did, in Christ, mirroring a life of love, devotion, generosity, and faith that she modeled for us. We will miss you on Earth, but it is in faith that we know that the Lord will prepare a place for us, and we will come back home to rest eternally with you. Thank you for being the best mom, daughter, and aunt that there ever was. We love you.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Operation Kindness Humane Society, as this was a cause very near and dear to Cindy’s heart.
