Col. Charles Edward Bopp Ret.

Col. Charles Edward Bopp Ret., of Stirum, North Dakota, passed away quietly in his sleep on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in Bedford TX, he had just turned 90 years old. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on May 17, 1936, to Kenneth and Sarah Bopp. Charles grew up on the family farm and loved playing baseball and basketball in school. Chuck attended North Dakota State University and majored in Engineering. He was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. While at NDSU Chuck met Karen Kay Cornell and they were soon married. Knowing that farming was not for him he joined the United States Air Force. Charles spent 25 years in the Air Force as a pilot, safety engineer, and base civil engineer, including a tour in Vietnam and involved in the Air Force pilot group “The Daedalians”. He retired as a full Colonel. Chuck became an avid golfer and he and Karen enjoyed traveling to many beautiful locations to play golf together. They were married for just shy of 69 years.

Chuck is survived by his wife Karen of Bedford TX, his four children, daughter Tamara of Euless TX, son Timothy (wife Dary) of Irving TX, daughter Shelly (husband Jorge) of Highland Village TX and daughter Sandra of Euless TX. His four Grandchildren who affectionately called him "Poppy", Nicole (husband Kirk) of Germantown MD, Cristina (husband Chris) of Centennial CO, Daniel (wife Lauren) of Denton TX and Christopher of Irving TX, his one great granddaughter Belén of Germantown MD and his brother Roger Bopp of Gwinner, ND, along with several nieces and nephews.
