Catherine Socci Scheurle

Catherine Chandler Scheurle (née Socci), a devoted wife, mother, educator, and woman of faith, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, in North Richland Hills, Texas. Born May 23, 1970, in Norwalk, Connecticut. Catherine was the cherished daughter of Susan Candini Socci and the late Vincent Socci.

Catherine grew up in New Canaan, Connecticut and graduated from New Canaan High School in 1988. She went on to earn her degree from Wheelock College in 1992, embarking on a lifelong career as an educator. Most recently, she served as a Pre-K teacher and as the lower school S.T.E.M. teacher at Fort Worth Christian School, where she inspired countless students with her passion for learning and innovation.

A devoted Catholic, Catherine was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community, where her love for God shaped every aspect of her life. She found joy and fellowship through ladies’ groups, retreats, and Bible studies, living her faith with quiet grace and unwavering trust. During her courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with a rare form of cancer, Catherine never asked, “Why me?” Instead, she chose gratitude, hope, and the determination to embrace each day as a gift, inspiring everyone who knew her.

Nothing brought Catherine greater happiness than time spent with her family, especially at the beach—her favorite place in the world. Whether walking the shoreline, listening to the waves, or simply being surrounded by those she loved, she found peace in those moments and created memories her family will treasure forever.

One of Catherine’s lifelong dreams was to visit the birthplace of her paternal grandparents in Italy -- to walk where they had walked and reconnect with the roots of her family’s story. What a blessing it was that she was able to experience that unforgettable journey to Settefrati with her family last year, embracing her heritage and creating cherished memories together.

She also enjoyed the trip of a lifetime, visiting many of Europe’s most beautiful and inspiring places, including the Vatican, Rome, Paris, the rolling hills of Tuscany, and the breathtaking Amalfi Coast. These travels provided a much-needed respite from the constant thoughts and burdens of cancer, allowing her to rest, recharge, and renew her spirit. They rejuvenated her soul and gave her treasured moments of joy, peace, and wonder that she carried with her always.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert; her two daughters Kristin and Jenna; her mother Susan Socci; her sister Maria Conroy; her brother Lewis Socci; brother-in-law Bernard Scheurle, Sister-in-law Carol Dillow, and many nieces and nephews who adored her. Catherine was predeceased by her father Vincent Socci and her niece Mary Socci. Father-in-law Clemens Scheurle, and Mother-in-law Hildegard Scheurle.

Catherine’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, selfless love, and a life devoted to serving others. She inspired her family, friends, students, and all who knew her through her kindness, courage, and joyful spirit. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the example she set will continue to live on in the hearts of those blessed to know her.

May perpetual light shine upon her, and may she rest in the eternal peace of Christ.
