Carylon Mahaney Vaughan
May 19, 1954 – September 29, 2026
Carylon Vaughan, 72, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2026.
Carylon was born on May 19, 1954, in Lamesa, Texas, and was raised in Ackerly, Texas. She later made her home in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area, where she spent most of her life and raised her family.
Carylon married Stephen Vaughan on August 22, 1975. Having recently celebrated 51 years of marriage, they built a wonderful life together and raised four children:
Carylon was a devoted wife and mother with a gentle nature, a kind heart, and a zest for life. Her family was a source of great joy to her, and she especially cherished being Grammy to her seven grandchildren:
Carylon also treasured the many friendships she formed throughout her life. Among those especially dear to her were her lifelong friends, DeJuana Carpenter and Arleen Barnes Nixon, whom she met many years ago in Lubbock, Texas.
Carylon was a devout Christian whose faith was an important part of her life. Most recently, she was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas. Her family takes comfort in her faith and in the assurance that she is now at home with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Virginia Mahaney.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steve; her four children, Jenny Polasek (Jason), Taryn Reeves (Rob), Cale Vaughan, and Drew Vaughan; her seven grandchildren, Preston Reeves, Whytney Reeves, Henry and Clara Polasek, Gannon and Emersyn Vaughan, and Brayden Parton; her sister, Cathy Miller (Chuck); her brother-in-law, James Vaughan (Reggie); her sister-in-law, Teresa Ward (Jerry); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Carylon’s life will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas. Carylon will be laid to rest in Tahoka, Texas, at a later date.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.
