Cary is survived by his daughter, Delaney Reed Lockwood-Romo, son-in-law Dalton Romo, and his beloved granddaughters Madelyn Romo and Makenna Romo of Midlothian, TX; his life partner, Lynn Chen, of Grand Prairie, TX; brothers Brad (Ann) Lockwood, of Highlands Ranch, CO; Tracy (Toya) Clements of Wichita, KS; Matt (Jenny) Lockwood, of Moses Lake, WA; sister Toni (Richard) Brauer of Georgetown, TX; his two dogs Bella and Harley, his cat Pita, many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.
Cary was preceded in death by his parents, Marlene and Tony Clements, and Danny and Elaine Lockwood, as well as many aunts and uncles.
Cary was a kind soul who loved his family deeply, and he was dearly loved in return. He was ornery and had a great sense of humor, with a smile to match. He was always ready with a joke, a playful comment, or a smile that could brighten someone’s day. Cary was also a good friend to many, including his co-workers he worked alongside over the years. He was one of a kind.
He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time with family, cooking, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Cary had a special love for animals, especially dogs, and would often joke that he liked dogs even more than people. More than anything, Cary loved being a grandfather. His granddaughters, Madelyn and Makenna, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. Cary loved holidays, making each one special for Delaney and her family.
Visitation will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home and Crematory in Hurst, Texas on Thursday, March 19th from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, March 20th at 2 p.m.
Cary will be remembered for his humor, his love for his family, and his special place in his heart for animals. His spirit, laughter, and stories will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider honoring Cary by supporting the 15/10 Foundation by WeRateDogs by purchasing merchandise from their website, which helps raise funds for shelter dogs. Cary especially loved their “Tell Your Dog I Said Hi” merchandise and proudly wore it everywhere he went. Continuing to wear and share these items is a beautiful way to honor Cary’s life and to celebrate his love for dogs while helping spread awareness for a cause that meant so much to him. It would have made Cary smile to know that people are still telling their dogs hi for him. (https://weratedogs.com)
