Carolyn Jay Roderick Garrett, 90, of Grapevine Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 21, 1936, in Dallas to Jay and Rod Roderick.
A 1954 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Carolyn lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Wayne Garrett. Together they started their own business, Wayne's Industrial Service in 1963. She remained active until she sold the business in 2021. She and our dad enjoyed fishing, hunting, and making lasting memories traveling in their motor homes. Carolyn was a proud mother to Mindy Flanagan and Steve Garrett.
Carolyn and her parents were members of the Lakewood United Methodist Church in Dallas where she shared her love of music playing the piano. She learned to play the ukulele from her youth camp instructor. Upon returning home from camp, her dad bought her a new ukulele. From an early age of 3, her mother knew she was very talented and she won first place tap dancing with much older contestants @ the Majestic Theater in downtown Dallas.
Carolyn was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed researching her family's genealogy. She enjoyed serving as President of Quilt Chat in Grapevine and made beautiful quilts. She read the Dallas Morning News paper every day and kept up with politics and sports. She loved to watch the Texas Ranger's and Dallas Cowboy games. She was known for her warm and welcoming spirit and truly never met a stranger.
Her family finds comfort in the words of John 14:1-6 and in the lasting legacy of love, faith, friendship, and kindness she leaves behind. Carolyn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her
