Carol Mieure

Nov 4, 1966 — Jul 8, 2026

Carol Mieure, age 59, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1966, and lived a life filled with love, creativity, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Hector Vela; her cherished sons, William Vogelsberg, Joseph Vogelsberg, and Kenneth Vela; her mother-in-law, Amparo Vela; and her beloved siblings, Richard Mieure; Ronnie and Jeneal Mieure; Jim and Danell Mieure; Steven and Christie Mieure; Gordon and Jamie Lynn Mieure; and Nancy Mieure. She also leaves behind her faithful companions, her cats Bobby and Lucky, and her dog Dundee, who brought her great comfort and joy.

Carol was a devoted Christian of the Mormon faith whose kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. Family was the center of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to gather with those she loved. Her siblings remember countless moments of laughter, love, and adventure that will forever remain in their hearts.

One of the family’s favorite memories dates back to when Carol was 12 years old and her brother Gordon was 10. While sledding together, they crashed into a tree, and Gordon broke his arm. Without hesitation, Carol carried both sleds back up two hills, returned to help her injured brother, and safely guided him home. It was a perfect example of the protective and caring sister she would always be.

Nancy and Gordon fondly remember every Christmas Eve spent sleeping in Carol’s downstairs bedroom. The three would stay awake talking, laughing, and eating oranges before quietly sneaking upstairs to catch a glimpse of the gifts waiting beneath the Christmas tree. Those simple traditions became treasured memories that lasted a lifetime.

Carol also spent several years living in New York, where she worked as a nanny, sharing her nurturing heart with the children she cared for. Back home, family and friends eagerly anticipated her homemade sour cream cookies, lovingly baked from her grandmother’s treasured recipe.

Steven remembered playing with Carol on the swing set at the Q-Motel in Kansas during family trips to visit relatives in Illinois. Years later, when he graduated from college, Carol asked what gift he would most like to receive. He requested an oil painting of their grandparents’ home, and Carol created a beautiful piece that still hangs proudly in his home today. Her artistic talent was extraordinary, and her oil paintings became treasured gifts that family members will cherish forever.

William says, looking back at me and both my brothers upbringing I realize how blessed we were and are to have carol as our mother. A tough as nails woman raised on a farm with 4 older brothers and one younger brother and sister instilled in us manners, and a hard work ethic with a technique that's been lost to the ages. She was very firm yet very loving. The perfect balance where we learned our lessons immediately and completely understood the reason for discipline. She loved all her family with all her heart and so did we to her. When I broke my leg in 2019 she took care of all my needs like I was a child again. I was a little embarrassed about the whole situation but she never complained, matter of fact she enjoyed it. When I got the news that she got diagnosed with cancer in March 2025 my heart dropped. I lost countless hours of sleep just wondering what to do. My step father Hector rallied all of us together like troops to take care of her. We all owed her that. But it was all of our pleasures. Though all of us were worrying, she didn't even get nervous one bit. She fought like hell through the treatments over a year and a half giving it her all. During this time, I've had some deep conversations with her. One in particular where she told me that "if it's my time to go, I do not have any regrets. I've raised you boys into great men and I wouldn't have it any other way". In her passing I'm hurting really bad as we all are hurting but I also feel a feeling of relief knowing that she is now with grandma Marge, my cousin Chris, with my grandpa, with all her late relatives and she's reunited with her cats and that she's not feeling the excruciating pain anymore. In conclusion we love her, we miss her and we're damn proud to be a part of her and hope to keep her legacy alive

Carol loved sports throughout her life, especially playing volleyball and basketball. She was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed cheering them on every season.

She found happiness in painting, playing video games, and listening to music. Her creativity, warmth, and generous heart were evident in everything she did. Whether creating beautiful artwork, baking for loved ones, or simply spending time with family, Carol made every moment special.

Carol’s legacy is one of unconditional love, quiet strength, artistic talent, and selfless devotion to those around her. She will be deeply missed, but her beautiful paintings, family traditions, and countless memories will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew and loved her.

May she rest in eternal peace.
