Brian Edward McEvoy

Brian Edward McEvoy, 82, of Keller, Texas, entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2026. After a valiant fight following complications from a fall and pelvic fracture, he passed peacefully surrounded by his closest loved ones at Medical City Lewisville.

Brian was born on August 4, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. Throughout his life, he planted roots in many places, including Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; San Antonio, Texas; and Keller, Texas. Wherever he lived, Brian built a strong sense of community and generously gave back to those around him. Brian never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t gotten to know yet, and he had an exceptional gift for making people feel like family.

Brian proudly served his country in the United States Army. Through his career in public education, Brian fostered inclusion, dignity, and kindness among all students, and was passionate about helping students with disabilities attend Dodgers baseball games, participate in the Special Olympics, and enjoy countless opportunities that created joy, confidence, and a true sense of belonging. As a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in San Antonio, Brian gave back to his community and exemplified the altruism, compassion, magnanimity, and integrity of a devout Catholic. He was a dedicated blood donor, proudly donating nearly 20 gallons of blood. Brian was a cherished friend and loved helping his neighbors or brightening their day through his friendship, humor, generosity, and delicious baking and cooking.

In addition to his love and dedication to service, Brian had many interests and talents. He was a skilled painter, maintenance man, and carpenter; his work even flew him in private jets to build Chili’s restaurants and other chains across the country. Brian was also a talented photographer, a wonderful cook and baker, and an avid reader and supporter of public libraries. Like many members of the McEvoy family, he was a gifted and multifaceted musician who always put on engaging and showstopping performances at Evergreen at Keller’s weekly karaoke night. Brian loved exploring local breweries and restaurants, he especially loved being a regular at Local Pint in Flower Mound. He loved crossword puzzles, the daily comics, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, the Dallas Cowboys, sharing jokes and stories, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. More than anything, Brian loved his family and cherished every opportunity to gather with those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, service, and dedication to others, along with endless memories filled with laughter, great conversation, and unconditional love.

Brian is survived by his loving daughters, Kim (Glenn) Leatherwood and Hope Hill; his devoted son-in-law, Mike Hill, whom Brian loved as a son and whose unwavering love, advocacy, and compassionate care were a constant source of strength throughout Brian’s health journey; his bonus daughter, Virginia Calvillo; his sisters, Maureen (Tony) Bjornson and Jane (Fred) Forbes; his beloved companion of more than ten years, Sandy Deering; his cherished grandchildren, Heather (Nathan) Merriman, Justin Hill, Chris (Dana) Keeley, Meghan Hill, and Rebekah (Kyle) Schnitker; several adored great- grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and countless treasured extended family and friends, who will all miss him dearly.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie McEvoy; his beloved wife of 49 years, Dolores “Lori” McEvoy; his children, Lara and Troy McEvoy; his brothers, Michael (Anita), Daniel, Patrick, Terrence, Kevin, James, and Peter (Marsha); his sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” (Bob) Jirschele and Nancy (Arthur) Lucas; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cherished friends and family who will welcome him to eternal life.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many healthcare professionals, clergy, and loved ones who walked beside Brian throughout his health journey. Your compassion, prayers, and support brought comfort to Brian and all who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Brian’s legacy to consider donating blood, registering as an organ donor, exploring the possibility of becoming a living donor, supporting their local library, contributing to organizations serving individuals with special needs, supporting their local fire department, and/or volunteering with their church’s homebound ministry.

Visitation and Rosary will take place at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment with military honors at DFW National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
