Betty Ruth Crabb Clapp, a woman dedicated to her family and a pioneering professional, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in Ft. Worth, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on March 28, 1934, in Wilson, Oklahoma, Betty was the third child of Alva Lee Garrison Crabb and Luther Lee Crabb. Her early life was marked by moves between Oklahoma and California, where her family worked in fruit orchards, instilling in her a strong work ethic from a young age.
Betty's journey led her to Dallas after high school, where she pursued a scholarship to Draughon's Business School. It was there, on May 4, 1953, that she met the love of her life, Jack Clapp, an Air Force serviceman. Betty made a commitment to her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized before they married on April 3, 1954, at Forrest Avenue Baptist Church.
Betty and Jack settled in Fort Worth, eventually moving to Burleson in July 1963, where they raised their three children. She was a devoted stay-at-home mother until her youngest son was in second grade.
Her professional life began with volunteering at Mound Elementary School in Special Education classes. This led to a full-time position as a Kindergarten Aide, and subsequently, she became a 3rd-grade P.E. teacher and Librarian for the Burleson ISD, where she worked until 1982. After Jack's passing in 1979 from Melanoma, Betty sought a role that offered more engagement, leading her to Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. There, she excelled, becoming a Registered Professional Appraiser specializing in oil field personal property and later utility companies. She retired from P&A at the end of 1995 after 13 years of dedicated service.
In retirement, Betty remained active, enjoying Senior Ed classes at TCJC, playing bingo, and maintaining her home. Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment to her loved ones.
Betty is survived by her three children Jackie Cundieff and husband Rick of Red Oak, Mike Clapp of Ft. Worth, and Bruce and wife Dana of Burleson. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Aaron Cundieff and wife Ashlee of River Ridge, LA, Krista Klaproth, husband Kenly, and great-granddaughter Isabella of Shoshoni, WY, sister Nadine Fisher of Ft. Worth, sister Wanda Maddox and husband John of Clemson, SC, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.
Funeral Services will take place at First Baptist Church of Burleson on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is set for one hour prior to funeral services, also at First Baptist Church of Burleson. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Burleson or your favorite charity.
