Barbara Ann Stewart passed away on October 8, 2025 in Grapevine, Texas. A strong and resilient woman, Barbara overcame many challenges in her 87 years of life, beating the odds and leaving behind a legacy to be proud of.
Barbara was born on February 9, 1938 in Wilmington, Delaware to parents Violet Thayer and William Stewart. Just after her third birthday, she was brought into the foster care system, and was raised by foster parents Robert and Ella Biddle until she was 18. She graduated from Unionville High School in Pennsylvania in 1956, and retired from DuPont de Nemours, Inc. after many years of dedicated service. She moved to Grapevine in 1992 to be closer to family and worked in banking.
Barbara will be remembered as a well-dressed woman and a generous volunteer who spent many precious hours with babies and new moms at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine. She volunteered more than 10,000 hours on the Mom/Baby floor and was recognized as the hospital's volunteer of the year. She loved Tom Jones and Elvis, the beach, and Norman Rockwell art. She was an avid fan of televised sports and found great joy in watching everything from football and baseball to tennis and golf. Her family will miss her macaroni and cheese, her chocolate chip cookies, and the love she had for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two children, Joanne Baston and husband Steve, and Jeff Parrett and wife Kimberly; grandchildren Scotty, Stevi, Sarah, Christine, Ashleigh, and Spencer; and great-grandchildren Margo, Theo, Harper, Henry, and Charlie.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes, the family will honor her life privately rather than holding formal memorial services.
