Arcina “Sandy” Cardenas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away on August 8, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 25, 1951, to Jessie and Lucy Torrez in Brownwood, Texas, Sandy was a force of nature—a woman who lived life on her own terms and filled every room with her spirited personality.
To know Sandy was to love her, even her wonderfully "crazy" side. She had a mischievous sense of humor, a stubborn streak, and a way of doing things that was uniquely her own. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She shared an unbreakable bond with her husband of 40 years, Rudy Cardenas. They built a beautiful family together, and Sandy’s greatest joy was being a grandmother. She was especially grateful for the time she was given to care for her last grandchild, Tyler, with whom she shared a truly special connection. She was also a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews, who will cherish the memories of her vibrant spirit.
Sandy began her career in Brownwood before moving to Irving in 1984, where she dedicated over 20 years to running a daycare. To the many families she cared for, she was more than just a caregiver—she was a trusted friend who treated every child as her own. Her retirement was a bittersweet moment, but the countless families she touched will forever remember her dedication and warmth.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Rudy Cardenas; her sons, Rickey Rosalez of Ft Worth and Eric Rosalez and his wife Lizbeth of Venus; her daughter, April Sanchez and her husband Jason of Ft Worth; her father, Jesse Torrez of Brownwood; her sister, Dorothy Torrez of Brownwood; and her sister-in-law, Mary Torrez of Brownwood. She was a doting grandmother to Mia, Adriana, Dory, Dallas, Alessandra, Jessica Rosalez, and Tyler Sanchez. She joins her mother, Lucy Torrez, and her brother, Arthur Torrez, in eternal rest.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sandy’s life on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Sandy’s laughter, her fierce love, and her one-of-a-kind spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
