Anna Louise Kantwill

November 18, 1938 — February 18, 2025

Anna Louise Kantwill (nee Hamilton)- November 18, 1938-February 18, 2025 Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Anna was a true gem.

An only child of only children, orphaned at too-tender an age, she hailed from the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, and her New York roots ran through every aspect of her life. She never forgave the Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn, and loved Nathan’s hotdogs and a good knish. She rooted for Loyola University Chicago Rambler basketball and English Premier League soccer, cheering for her grandsons’ favorite teams. She held dear Cocoa Beach, Florida, and the memories she made there with family and friends throughout the years. A fighter and survivor, Anna and Edward, her husband of 60 years, raised and provided wonderfully for their children and grandchildren, embodying always the values of loyalty, integrity, education, and hard work. As the wife, mother and grandmother of military veterans, she was a strong supporter of our men and women in uniform and proud of the service of the men of her family. Together, Anna and Edward loved and cherished each other and their families. They made everyone around them better. Anna was adored, and she will be missed by many. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Edward Paul Kantwill and her parents William and Anna Keller.

She is survived by her three children, Col. Ret. Paul (Nora), R (Pilar) and Debbie Ferguson (Monte), her four grandchildren, Conor (Mackenzie), Olivia Anderson (Drew), Morgan Ford (Josh) and Liam (Alaina) and her two great grandchildren, Marcus and Katherine Ford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Anna L. and Edward P. Kantwill Scholarship Fund at Loyola University Chicago. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
