Alice Faye Jolley

May 20, 1947 — January 30, 2026

Alice Faye Couch Jolley, 78, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Medical City Alliance.

Alice was born on May 20, 1947, in Rochester, New York, to Sperry W. Couch and Anna B. (Graham) Couch. She spent part of her childhood on Grindstone Island, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse, later graduating from Clayton High School.

She pursued a lifelong calling in nursing, graduating from nursing school in Rochester, New York, as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and later earning her Registered Nurse degree from Odessa College. Alice’s nursing career was diverse and accomplished. She worked in many roles, including charge nurse in a nursing home, operating room nurse for an eye doctor, medical-surgical unit nurse in a hospital, and operating room nurse in a hospital. She concluded her career as Medical Director for a GI Endoscopy Center, a role that reflected both her leadership and deep commitment to patient care.

Alice married James Jolley on November 16, 1966. Following their marriage, they traveled extensively across the United States for James’s work in the pipeline industry, eventually settling in Jenks, Oklahoma, when their daughter reached school age. The family later moved to New Caney, Texas in 1977, then to Odessa, Texas in 1987. After retiring, James and Alice relocated to Keller, Texas in 2010 to be closer to their daughter and granddaughter. In 2023, Alice moved to Runaway Bay, Texas.

Alice lived an extraordinarily full and active life. Over the years, she pursued a wide range of hobbies and passions. She showed pugs, bullmastiffs, Shetland sheepdogs, and miniature poodles in breed conformation, and also competed with Shelties and poodles in agility and obedience. She later opened an agility school in Odessa, where she taught and mentored others. Alice also showed horses in playday events and proudly served as a devoted horse show mom to both her daughter and granddaughter, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on.

In 2016, Alice became deeply involved in wildlife rescue, where she raised countless orphaned baby squirrels and raccoons and generously mentored other wildlife rehabilitators. She was also known for creating beautiful hand-crocheted afghans that are treasured by family and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Jolley; her brother, William Couch; her sister, Norma; and her brother-in-law, August.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzette Jolley, and her husband, Joe Young; her granddaughter, Mackenzie Hamilton; her brother-in-law, Dan Jolley; her brother, Art Couch, and his wife, Jeri; her sister, Linda Williams, and her husband, John; her sister-in-law, Carolyn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
