Aleksander Witkowski, age 103, passed away on September 8, 2026. He was born on September 3, 1923, in Krakow, Poland, to Jan Witkowski and Stanislawa Szewczykowska Witkowski.
Aleksander was a proud World War II veteran and was involved in several organizations throughout his life, including Parents Without Partners, the Moose Lodge, and the Polish Club of Chicago. He was a skilled scuba diver and enjoyed golfing and traveling, always appreciating the opportunity to experience new places and create lasting memories.
Throughout his working years, Aleksander took great pride in his craft. He first worked for Capitol Engineer before spending 17 years with Wrigley Chewing Gum. He was a true perfectionist when it came to his work and was known for taking pride in doing things the right way.
Those who knew Aleksander will remember him not only for his many accomplishments, but for the kind of man he was. He was a true gentleman who always seemed to have the best advice to offer. He was also a wonderful joke teller who had a special way of making everyone around him feel good and putting a smile on their face. Above all, he was a devoted grandfather who was lovingly known by his family as the “best grandpa ever.”
Aleksander was preceded in death by his beloved Patra, his parents, and his siblings.
He is survived by his daughter, Yolanda Stafford (Henry) ; granddaughters, Jaimie Giertuga and Haley Stafford; great-grandchildren, Aleksander Cisneros, Briella Alvarado, Aleksandria Cisneros, and Zeppelin Holbrook; as well as many dear friends and extended family in Poland.
Aleksander lived a remarkable 103 years, leaving behind a lifetime filled with hard work, adventure, laughter, wisdom, and love. His stories, his humor, his advice, and the memories he created with those he loved will continue to live on for generations to come. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
