Announcement of Passing

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Adoracion Navarro Asuncion, affectionately known as Doris to many. Embraced by love, Doris leaves behind a legacy marked by her nurturing spirit.

Early Life and Education

Adoracion was born on August 4, 1933, the daughter of Pacifico Navarro and Hilaria Dimafeli, in Tarlac City in the Philippines. She was one of seven siblings in the Navarro family. Doris attended Tarlac City High School and later earned a degree in Elementary Education from The Philippines Women’s University.

Marriage and Immigration

Doris and Eugenio Ramirez Asuncion were married in 1970, and in 1971, they moved to Far Rockaway, New York, where they established deep roots. In Far Rockaway, they formed enduring friendships within the Filipino community and dedicated over 25 years of service to the local Peninsula Hospital and Nursing Home.

Later Years

After retiring, Doris and Eugenio moved west, living first in Anaheim, California, and then in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2007, Doris experienced the loss of her beloved husband Eugenio, who passed away after a long battle with prostate cancer. Doris subsequently moved to Culver City, California with her niece Gail and husband Alan, and eventually relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

A Life Dedicated to Caring

Throughout her life, Doris devoted herself to caring for others. She spent more than twenty years serving the residents at Peninsula Nursing Home, where her compassion and commitment were evident every day. Her selflessness extended far beyond her professional life, as she cared deeply for family members of all ages and was always willing to offer her support and guidance.

The warmth of her presence brightened the lives of friends, neighbors, and members of her community, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

Finding Joy in Simple Pleasures

Doris found happiness in the everyday moments that brought people together. She cherished sharing stories over traditional Filipino dishes and celebrating her loved ones’ milestones. Her boundless love continues to inspire and guide us, serving as a source of strength and comfort.

Family and Legacy

Doris is survived by her loving children, her daughter Abby, who resides in Texas with her husband Gary, her son Fred who lives in California, and her granddaughter Olivia, who is currently attending school in London. The family finds solace in knowing that Doris's spirit lives on in each of them, continuing to shape their lives in meaningful ways.

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Doris's life and enduring legacy. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in remembering a remarkable woman whose kindness and love touched countless lives. Services will be livestreamed and will be available on December 14 when the funeral mass begins at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of sending flowers, Doris requested that any contributions be directed to her only granddaughter, Olivia's college 529 plan . Doris was an advocate for education and supported many family members throughout their educational journeys.
