Salvador B. Huerta

June 25, 1933 - February 10, 2022

Salvador B. Huerta was born on June 25, 1933 in Zacatecas, Mexico to the late Lucina Vedoy and Jacinto Huerta. He passed away on February 10, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 88. Salvador spent his life surrounded by growth and natural beauty as a professional landscaper. They say if you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life – Salvador was a prime example of this. Even in the middle of the summer, in peak Texas heat, he executed his craft without protest. After retirement, his passion continued to blossom in the care of his own garden and yard. When he wasn’t working in nature, Salvador could be seen enjoying the outdoors on his lengthy, twice-daily strolls through the neighborhood. To say he was an active, physical man would be an understatement. In fact, just days before his death he challenged one of his daughters to an uphill climb he was certain he could tackle. For this and for many other reasons, Salvador will be dearly missed by those who had the good fortune to know him. Salvador was preceded in death by his son, Lupe Huerta; parents; and siblings, Pablo, Guadalupe, and Nicolas Huerta. His is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Cristina Huerta, of Fort Worth, Texas; adoring children: Juan Salvador Huerta and wife, Connie, of Fort Worth, Texas, Luz Cockerline and husband, Kevin, of Millsap, Texas, Jose Manuel Huerta of San Vicente, Mexico, Bertha Bautista and husband, Inri, of Fort Worth, Texas, Juvy Huerta and wife, Rosie, of Fort Worth, Texas, Dora Huerta of Arlington, Texas, Silvia Martinez and husband, Myron, of Fort Worth, Texas, Rene Huerta of Fort Worth, Texas, and Susana Maldonado and husband, Danny, also of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Fabian, Noe and his wife, Nancy, Liz, Omar, Giovanni and his wife, Ana, Josh, Christian, Isabella, Alexa, Julian, Andy, Kayla, Gigi, and Cashton; great-grandchildren: Camilla, Mateo, Andrea, and Mel. He is also survived by his three brothers: Gregorio, Jesus, and Manuel Huerta. The family will receive friends and visitors from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Rosary services will begin at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Fort Worth with interment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, also in Fort Worth.
