John David Koen

February 8, 1977 - April 24, 2022

On April 24, 2022 at 7:10 pm, John David Koen lost his 3 1/2 year battle with lung cancer at the age of 45. He passed very peacefully in the comfort of his home with close loved ones surrounding him. John was born on February 8, 1977 in Fort Worth, Texas to Donald and Pamela Koen. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Koen. John is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Heather Koen; two young sons, Ethan and Parker Koen; mother, Pamela Koen; sister, Sarah Koen; and brother, Brian Koen. At the age of 18, he embarked on what became his passion in a plumbing career. By the end of his life, John held a Responsible Master Plumbers License, and grew his family business, Koen Plumbing, into a successful and reputable plumbing company. John was the guy everyone turned to for help when it came to projects, including home improvements, woodworking, and everything in between. He was very knowledgeable and mastered every new hobby or passion through self teaching. John especially loved trivia related to world history and geography. Whether he was making someone laugh, hiking barefoot with his boys, handcrafting wood pieces, or simply playing board games with his family, he was unapologetically exactly who he was, with no exceptions. Throughout his life, John felt most grounded connecting to nature. He was not only a one-of-a-kind person with a big heart and generous soul, John was also beloved by his community and loyal customers of Koen Plumbing. Please join us as we gather together to celebrate the life of John David Koen, to remember the fun, the love, and all things that made John so unique. Come share your favorite memories and funny moments as we laugh, cry, and remember the wonderful man John was and the legacy he leaves behind. The gathering will be a BBQ style potluck. Please bring a dish and beverages of your choice to share with family and friends. *Shoes Optional* Service will be at the Bear Creek Ranch Event Center located in Nevada, Texas on May 7th, 2022 at 2:00 pm. **We invite you to bring an outdoor activity or game for everyone to enjoy.
