Jerry Dan Alphin

October 19, 1941 - January 12, 2022

Jerry Dan Alphin, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022. Born October 19th, 1941, in a log cabin in Grand Saline, Texas, he was the son of Abner Daniel Alphin and Virgie Mae Gipson. He was married to Lois Ann Wheatley on June 9th, 1961, in Waxahachie. Countless times during their life together, Jerry would lovingly refer to Ann as "my bride." Jerry served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, from 1958 - 1978, retiring as an E-9 with the rank of Mess Attendant Specialist Master Chief Petty Officer. In addition to being stationed in numerous locations in the United States, he also served in Japan, Vietnam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Upon his retirement from the military, he worked in sales for more than 30 years. This was a natural choice for a second career in which he could continue to succeed because Jerry never met a stranger. He served as an elder at Jersey Village Church of Christ from 1990 to 2003. Later, he and Ann were members of the Keller Church of Christ. Previously departed loved ones include Jerry's parents and a brother, Jimmy Joe Alphin. Left to carry on Jerry's memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Ann; two daughters, Tammy Alphin Buchanan and husband Andy of Fort Worth, and Shelley Alphin Wallace and husband Paul of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Owen, David, Alex, Daniel, Caitlyn, and Ashlyn; and five great-grandchildren, Blade, Weston, Noah, Adelynn and Anniston. He is also survived by brother Jack and wife Judy Alphin, aunt Mae Burrow, and niece Jody Lowrey, all of Grand Saline, as well as numerous other family members and friends. A special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice: Dr. Aman Haider, Terri Clemons NP, Carmilla Mbati RN, and our precious daily life saver Erliter Noah, who took such good care of our loved one for so long. Without them our journey with our dear “Daddy” would not have been possible, as our desire was always to keep him home with us. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 17th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held in the chapel there on Tuesday, January 18th, at 3:00pm. Committal service with full military honors will take place on Wednesday, January 26th, at 1:30pm at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
