Jane Parker Shafer

February 8, 1940 - May 30, 2022

JANE PARKER SHAFER Born into Time February 8, 1940 Born into Eternity May 30, 2022 Jane Parker was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 8, 1940 to L. W. Parker, Jr., and Mary Imogene Alexander Parker. She was brought home to the town she lived in and loved until the day of her death. She was definitely a “Grapevine girl”, retiring from the City of Grapevine after over 20 years of service, as well as volunteering for any and all city activities and events happening at the time. Prior to working for the City, Jane worked for Central Airlines, Mesco and then joined her Dad, L. W. Parker, in his Parker Furniture Store in Grapevine. During her school years, Jane was active and participated in many school activities, including four-year choir, musicals and was chosen as Homecoming Float Attendant, Class Favorite and Football Sweetheart. After graduating from Grapevine High School in 1958 and attending North Texas University she married William Shafer, her next-door neighbor at the time. During William’s tour with the Army, they were stationed in Germany. Upon returning to the States, they naturally made their home in Grapevine, starting their family, first with William Brian and then Jennifer Leigh. Her granddaughter, Stella was born in 2008 and quickly became the love of her life! Jane was preceded in death by her parents, L.W. Parker, Jr. and Mary Imogene Alexander Parker. Survivors include son William Brian Shafer, daughter Jennifer Leigh Shafer Robertson, granddaughter Stella Jayne Robertson, Siblings Phil Parker (Jeannette), Jean Parker Bowen, and Penny Parker Mayfield (John), Nephews Eric Parker (Tracy), Dustin Parker(Alicia) Jason Parker (Jennifer), nieces Carrie Hudson Espanet (Tye), Casey Hudson Hege(Kyle) and many great nieces and nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimers Association in memory of Jane. www.ACT.ALZ.org She was a charter and active member of Memorial Baptist Church (now The Church at the Cross). Visitation- Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:00 am at The Church at the Cross, Grapevine, TX Funeral Services- Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11:00 am A private family graveside service will follow services.
