James Ray Smith

July 8, 1935 - March 9, 2022

James Ray Smith, age 86, was born to Margaret Smith on July 8, 1935 in St. Louis Missouri and passed away March 9, 2022 in Lewisville Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 1954 to June 1958 and served in the National Guard from 1953 to 1954. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion while he was in Kansas. James was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and long time baseball and basketball coach. He served as an Ordained Deacon (Catholic) in the Diocese of Little Rock and was a long time member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn Smith in 2015 and grandson, Tim Walton in 2010. He is survived by his children, Doug Smith, Cindy Smith Walton, Scott Smith, Greg Smith and Kevin Smith; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm, Monday, March 14, 2022 at Lucas Funeral Chapel with a rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2016 Willis Lane, Keller, Texas 76248. Final Resting Place will be Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
