Glenda Kay Absher, 79 of Southlake, TX passed away peacefully at home on May 4th, 2021. Kay (as she was known to all who knew her best) was the widow of her loving husband Daniel Absher. They shared nearly 3 decades of marriage together. She was also a beloved mother, step-mother and sister. Born on April 11th, 1942 to Herman A. Blankenship and Ella Mae Kornegay in Dallas, TX, Kay attended and graduated from Rogers High School. She went on to work and flourish in many occupations, including many years traveling with the carnival and her first husband Allen Markwood. And later as a co-business owner of a successful convenience store and deli. But of her fondest memories were the years she spent working at Elliots Hardware in Grapevine. Kay loved working with the public and meeting new people. She was a talented artist with an affinity for painting and sketching, especially Native American subject matter. She loved music and dancing. Kay loved working in her yard and gardening. Her deep love of animals was a trait she was well known for, especially her beloved dogs, past and present. She will be most remembered for her strength and independence, her quick wit, outgoing and gregarious personality, her strong will, intelligence, beauty and her signature silver streak of hair. She loved life – and she lived it colorfully. She leaves us rich in memories. She will forever be loved, cherished and missed. Kay is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Boswell and step-son and daughter-in-law Russell and Becky Absher, Kay was predeceased by her loving husband Dan Absher and her brother Don Blankenship. Visitation and memorial for Kay will be held on Wednesday, May 12th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory may be made to The American Lung Association or to Don’t Forget to Feed Me, a local non-profit group that provides food for pets whose owners are elderly, house-bound, homeless or unable to afford food for their pets.
