She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Peter Schmitz; and brothers, Edward, Alfred and Harold. She is survived by her son, Peter “Pete” Schmitz and wife Becky of Ponder, TX, and daughters, Eileen Schmitz of Troy, MO, and Vivian Schmitz and husband Ken Voisard of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren, Brittany and husband Nathan, Lindsey and husband Andrew, Kelly, Drew and wife Stephanie, Ashley and husband Patrick, Amanda, Emily and husband Ben, Michael and wife Seline, Daniel and wife Hayley, Mandi, Ruth, and Ben; step-grandchildren, Spencer and wife Kasey, Colton and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Harper, and Gabriella, and step great-grandchildren, Gavin, Nolan, Kaelyn, and Nixon; brother, John Tuggy and wife Sheila of Oklahoma, and sister, Edna Nelson of Maryland; and dear family friends Susan, Vanessa, Serena, Abigail and Heladia. Known as Omi to her family and close friends, Esther loved the Lord and walked faithfully with Him all her life. We know she and Peter are celebrating together in heaven. She loved traveling, the mountains, reading and gardening. She was known for her grace, kindness, uncomplaining nature, quiet wisdom, listening ear, and commitment and loyalty to her family. For Esther love was a decision and she eagerly anticipated her first view of Jesus’ face. The family will receive friends and visitors for a visitation on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas. Immediately following the service there will be a gathering with a meal at Ken and Vivian's home. A committal service will take place on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 1:00pm at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
