February 24, 1935 - October 7, 2021
Bonnie Vardeman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, was called home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021. Graveside service honoring Bonnie to be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, October 16, at Bourland Cemetery, Keller. In fulfilling Bonnie's wishes, each guest is invited to a brief visitation and fellowship with all dear family, friends, and acquaintances at 4 pm at Lucas Funeral Home, Keller. Bonnie began her career at Chase Manhattan Bank in Manhattan, New York, New York. Upon their return to Texas, Bonnie worked alongside her husband of 54+ years, Woodie, in managing the business operations of three television stores in northern Tarrant County. After selling the TV stores, Bonnie and Woodie established a cattle ranching business; at its height, their cattle enterprise counted over 700 black angus. Never one to sit around, she worked with her daughter Julie in the successful operation of Alpha Pools, a homegrown pool servicing business. Bonnie was devoted to her family, a loyal and dedicated wife, mom to three strong and good children, blessed with four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a second mom to many. Bonnie had an undeniable love for children, and you could often find her helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, babysitting kids, teaching kids in Sunday School, and helping in the nursery at church. She loved plants and flowers in her yard, was a fabulous cook--specializing, in particular, in the Southern staple chicken fried steak-- and really enjoyed football, basketball, tennis, soccer, wrestling, and boxing. In her later years, when she finally had time to slow down, she loved sitting outside, whether early morning at sunrise, sunset, or even at 3 am just listening to her music and feeding her birds and squirrels that had become accustomed to her daily feedings of dry, roasted peanuts. She has left behind the happiest and fattest birds and squirrels in Texas. Bonnie was a true original, one in a million, a beautiful soul with spunk who never, ever met a stranger. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyrus Daniel Key and Alma Key, her brothers Jack, Dub, and Bill Key, and her husband Woodie C. Vardeman. Survivors: Children, Marcy Hudson and husband, Daniel, Julie Disher, Chip Vardeman and wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Angelique Disher Dale and husband, Jarrod, Madison, Zachary and Jaxon Vardeman; great-grandchildren Foster Woods and Parker Grace Dale.
