Following this, she worked as a secretary and administrative assistant in several positions. Betty became interested in computers and moved into that area, becoming a key punch operator and then a programmer. Following a lengthy career with the state, Betty retired and continued to live in the Atlanta area, taking care of her elderly mother and enjoying her retirement. Betty was active in supporting various charities and organizations, but her heart was with the Humane Society, reflecting her love for dogs and other animals.
